Five New Year’s Resolutions to Set for Your Marketing Plan to Succeed in 2022

Jan 21, 2022

If you google anything about New Year’s Resolutions, you will get countless websites, articles, and blog posts all talking about how to set and stick to your new year’s resolutions this year. In fact, according to YouGovAmerica, about 25% of Americans set a resolution for 2022. Whether it is in your personal life or in business, the purpose of setting New Year’s resolutions is to begin the year with a fresh start and commit to a positive change.

Your marketing plan for the new year should already contain specific and measurable goals that you want to reach. By adding one of the New Year’s resolutions that we are suggesting below, it’s not about adding another goal but about adding a system to assist your brand in reaching your goals.

Here are some of our favorite new year’s resolutions for your marketing plans to be successful in 2022!

Determine how your budget will be allocated and tracked.

You most likely already allocated a budget for your marketing plan this year. Now as a resolution you can commit to writing out how your budget will be used each week, month, or quarter. How much will be allocated to networking? Advertising? Outsourcing? You also need to decide how the budget will be tracked and how often the budget will be reviewed. Resolutions are all about being specific and making a clear plan for your budget will make it easier to track and stick to.

Make a system for tracking KPIs

Whether your goals are to increase your conversion rate, increase your website traffic or obtain more leads, setting KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for your marketing plan is the easy part. Moving forward without having a system in place for tracking and measuring your KPIs could mean that your actions may not be aligned with reaching your goals. Make it a resolution to commit to a system that will assist you in measuring your KPIs and creating a timeline of how often the KPIs will be reviewed. Depending on your KIP goals, Google Analytics and Facebook Business Insight can be great place to start.

Commit to finding the right partners

As Peter Drucker said, “Do what you do best and outsource the rest.” Knowing when to get help is important but having the right partners can make all the difference. This year make it your plan to identify which areas of your business marketing plan need outside assistance. Whether it is creating content for social media, designing posts, or creating a new website, finding a partner that has the expertise and understands your brand’s mission and core values can have a significant impact on the success of your marketing plan.

Utilize your Consumer Personas when creating content

Make it a resolution to consistently look at your consumer personas each time that you create any new content for your website, email blasts, social media posts, or advertisements. By doing this, not only will you ensure that you are creating content that resonates with your consumers, (and likely increases your engagement rate) but you will also put to use all the hard work that went into creating your consumer personas in the first place.

Define your ideal email frequency

Having an email marketing strategy is great but what really pays off other than creating meaningful content is sending it out on a regular basis. Sending out content to your consumers should happen at least 1-4 times per month in order for you to build a relationship with your consumers and have them remain engaged with your brand. However, the frequency will ultimately depend on your company’s industry and what goals you are trying to reach.

For a New Year’s resolution to work, it must be specific, clear, and realistic. Following through on your commitment may take a lot of work but the rewards are worth it.
